Activision’s rumored 2008 release schedule: More Guitar Hero
Activision made major bank in 2007. They published both Guitar Hero III and Call of Duty 4, the worldwide number one and two games in sales. Expect more of the same in 2008, with Activision being more than happy to stick to successful game franchises. Here’s the 2008 major releases we know about so far:
- Guitar Hero III add-ons and major content packs, plus Guitar Hero IV this fall
- Call of Duty 5, assuming it stays on-schedule
- An adaptation of Quantum of Solace, the new James Bond movie
- Another Tony Hawk skateboarding game, supposedly totally revamped after EA’s Skate won this year
- One more Spider Man game
- Multiple sequels for DreamWorks’ movie sequels: two Kung Fu Panda games and Madagascar 2
- A Marvel Ultimate Alliance sequel
Plan for another fat, happy year if you own Activision stock, or their parent Vivendi Games (if owning stocks if your thing). If you’re a gamer, are you going to be happy with Guitar Hero IV, Call of Duty 5, and more of the same? Let us know in the comments.

Ya I’ll be happy if they release Guitar Hero IV, as long as they don’t do a piss poor job of releasing it on the wii like they did for III. I am STILL sitting here waiting for my replacement disk, which was apparently shipping out March 25th, that was almost THREE WEEKS AGO! They mess up and its the consumer who has to pay. I’ve been almost a month now without my disk.
